There’s countries you know you need to visit before you die, because, well, half the world has been there and you’ve seen the iconic photographs and TV shows (do people still watch TV?!). Italy, France, USA, and Japan come to mind. Then there’s countries that not too many have discovered, and really raved about. Sure tourism is high almost everywhere, but some countries don’t get enough limelight. Well, Namibia is, in our opinion, one of those sensational gems that really could use some more attention (especially because we’ve had “Walk through the Namib desert” on a road trip in Namibia on our Wanderlist since the beginning). And now here we are, post road-trip-in-Namibia, still in shock and in awe of...

March 2nd 2015 was departure day. It was the day we waved goodbye to South Africa, goodbye to a comfortable life with a comfortable salary, and goodbye to the somewhat predictable life we’d lived for over 29 years. On March 2nd 2015 we opted to say hello to spontaneity, curiosity, and a life-changing experience liberating us from everything (other than four bags of essentials and our hungry craving for adventure and need to create). I would like to say that March 2nd 2015 was a good day. It was also over a year ago, which is f%#*ing crazy! I sincerely feel like this adventure of ours has just begun, and we’ve been on the road for nearly 14 months now!...

Something different from our usual posts… Because it’s not travel- or creativity-related, it’s more relationship-related (well, it’s the month of love, is it not? So why the hell not); and Because Stevo has in fact not seen this post (we have always had four eyes look over each post before publishing), so hope he doesn’t mind! I am smiling a really, really big smile right now. If you could see me, I bet you’d tell me to close my mouth because my whites were blinding you. I’m smiling because I just saw a two-part tweet from a young gent in Lagos who is looking for, as I quote, a [Part 1] “Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie with a hint of Chrissie...

Ever since 2013, people from all over the world have been celebrating Veganuary (pronounced vee-gan-you-airy) which, like other global do-good movements (Movember and Earth Hour come to mind), aims to raise awareness to a cause or concept with a mass following, in the hope that a) the idea will spread; and b) that the small taster* will inspire the participants to practice the movement in everyday life (not just for the selected time period). I didn’t know too much about Veganuary (or veganism for that matter) until recently. Sure, I’d heard of it, and since one of our friends, Dani, is a vegan, I was exposed to the ideas and recipes that were purely plant-based. I was diagnosed with a dairy...

Our motto and motivation is to “collect experiences, not things”. Whilst on our journey, we’re aiming to spend our time and money on spectacular experiences, to be left with incredible learnings and memories, not tangible objects. This way, we’re sure to keep our lives light without additional luggage, but also be the change we want to see in the world. Our next featured experience is the Topdeck Travel tour, Trail to the Alps. Let’s talk about group travel for a minute. First few things that came to mind (up until recently) were: hangovers, no sleep, strangers, tears, young just-left-schoolians, and awkward small talk. A short while ago, our idea of group travel was a fairly chaotic one, as we remembered our...

Different from our usual just-the-two-of-us trips, we recently took the Topdeck Travel Trail to the Alps tour, for a group travel experience of a lifetime. 18 days, 8 countries, 14 cities, and a group of 29 strangers who have proven that the best part of travel is the people you meet along the way. The next city on our Trail to the Alps tour was Rome.   Rome is way bigger, way more energetic, and way cooler than I thought. Seriously. Stevo might not agree with this, but I could move to Rome tomorrow. I love Italy more than most countries (I might be biased as I have some Italian in my family line) so it was great to find a city that had the...

After recent city explorations in Athens, Florence, Perugia and Istanbul, one of our favourite travel companions Langly, challenged us to #PackAndGo get back into the wilderness, like we did in the summer in Norway and Sweden. As we’re both lovers of the outdoors and the environment, we couldn’t have run out of our accommodation fast enough. We started thinking about the crisp fresh air, wild landscapes, indigenous wildlife, mirrored lakes and never-ending hiking trails that we experienced just a few short months ago, and it made us hungry to get out again. So our trek into the serene meadows of Austria began. We soon realized, that a life outdoors is so incredibly natural for us, that we almost blended into our surroundings; we became tiny...

When planning a sabbatical, people often speak of “enlightenment” and traveling to “find themselves”. In our case, we’ve been looking for creative inspiration and a chance to experiment. So let’s experiment with a funny thought. Imagine for a second that you are a dog. I know what you’re thinking… ‘all this poop scooping has gone to their heads’. Fair. It may even be true. But humor us for a bit. So you’re a dog. You’ve been taken away from your mother before you could even open your eyes, and given to a family from a different species. They feed you, and walk you, and sometimes give you tasty treats if you sit or lie down. You also get to sleep....

This way, we’re sure to keep our lives light without additional luggage, but also be the change we want to see in the world. Our second featured experience is a vintage Fiat 500 panoramic tour of Florence. Have you ever dreamed of cruising through Tuscan hills, passing ancient villas, and stopping only to take panoramic photographs of the beautiful city of Florence, all whilst enjoying the Mediterranean sun through the sunroof of an iconic Fiat 500? Well if you hadn’t until now, you probably will...

Having spent just three short days in this magical town, I can now totally relate to my mom’s dream of visiting Florence. It’s as special and romantic as the clichés make it out to be, and I would honestly spend all my Autumns here if I could. We first arrived in Florence (en route to our next Workaway), stopping for just one night to breathe in some fresh Tuscan air (and to eat big cheesy pizzas and mouth-watering gelatos, obviously!) What soon followed, was a we-got-lost-and-loved-it tour of the city centre, stopping at the grand Il Duomo di Firenze (holy hell this is a GORGEOUS creation), crossing the unique structure of Ponte Vecchio, and ending up at Piazzale Michelangelo to...
