As the #RoyalWedding is in full swing today, we thought we’d share pics from the first wedding we’ve ever photographed. Ah, the first (no one ever forgets their first, right?) I say “first”, because we certainly hope that this isn’t our last (shameless plug: email us to chat about your big day – we’d love to be involved!) I also say “photographed” because this wasn’t our first rodeo entirely, as we think back to August 2016 when Eugene and Pajae invited us out to London to film their fairytale wedding at the Westminster Chapel (who would dare to say “no” to an opportunity like that…even without any wedding filming experience?! Um, not us.) But there’s something excitedly terrifying about photographing a...

Last week we reached a ridiculous, we-still-cannot-fathom-it milestone. Whilst flying over Vienna during our South-Africa-to-Amsterdam flight, we clocked over 384,400km traveled since leaving home originally on March 2nd 2015. It seems like a random number, but according to science, 384,400km (238,855 miles) is the exact distance between the Earth and the Moon. Travel goals for a couple who left home to see how far from home they could go?! Umm, YES! It’s taken us 3 years and 7 weeks to reach the moon. Sure, NASA or SpaceX could do it quicker, but would they have as many memories as us?! And would they have learned as much as us? Ok…they’d probably learn more…but we think these 69 lessons are pretty...

You have heard us preach about our “quit it all and sell everything” methodology to get you to travel around the world. I guess you don’t blame us – it is exactly what we did in order to get on the road and travel full time (like we have been doing since March 2015). But what if you’re not ready (or worse, able) to just pack up and go because you’re a homeowner? What if it’s not as easy as just selling the furniture, and packing a bag?     Before leaving, we were renting an apartment in Johannesburg, a mere 5 minute drive away from our offices, and as much as it was liberating to sell everything, pack-up, and...

We are nearing the end of our four-week trip in Portugal’s eccentric capital, Lisbon, and since it feels like we’ve been testing transport more than anything (and one of the city’s icons is a vehicle), I thought I’d dedicate our post to the various ways you can see it. For those of you who have never been to Lisbon (or have never seen images), the city is filled with tiny little cobbled streets. It has that European charm that you can expect from the EU, but what it also has (unlike some of the bigger inland capitals of Europe) is a coastline – a coastline with bridges, beachy pedestrian zones, and sunsets that delve off into the ocean (like in...

This week’s post’s goal is to inspire a little minimalism. Although we don’t shout it from the rooftops, we are huge advocates for living a simple, yet meaningful life. Since having our epiphany and giving up our work-hard-to-buy-stuff-and-then-buy-more-stuff life back in Johannesburg, to live a save-save-save-then-spend-on-experiences kind of life, we’ve had to adjust, and I mean really adjust. Besides the obvious things like furniture and house cleaning goods (because, well, we simply have no house for them), there are a few things we have actively and voluntarily removed from our lives, simply because we find no use for them anymore. So whether you’re living a 9-to-5 life like we used to, or you yourself are a full time traveller, we...

We finally did it! We experienced an entire winter in Europe, and we’ve come out on the other side (just about), having survived the cold! WOOOOOHOOOOOOO! Ok, this may not be a big deal for most of you, but for us brought-up-under-the-African-sun, skin-only-equipped-for-heat, cannot-even-fathom-minus-20 kids (can I still call us kids?) this is a HUGE achievement. Especially since we ventured out into some of the coldest climates on Earth this past Winter, including a little place called Jyväskylä a.k.a. Finnish Lakeland, and the Arctic Circle at the top of Norway where the Sami people live (that’s me below, wrapped up and looking fabulous for -35C).     Now, if you’re reading this in hope of some serious scientific advice on...

We are three weeks into our month-long sugarmoon (you know, that special time after you get engaged?), staying on the island of Solta in Croatia, and in a very strange way, it’s starting to feel a lot like home. Not home as in South Africa. Home in the ‘comfortable’ sense. Staying still for an entire month has created some stability for us, it seems. We can explore better (not rush through ticking off only a few sites), and we can act like locals – really learning about where to go for the best beer, what time you can get the best lighting for a photograph, and where the secret (or difficult-to-get-to) locations are, because, well, we have the time. Staying...

Update: We got married on February 9th, 2020! You can watch our wedding film here and see the full Wedding Series on our blog here. Nothing can quite prepare you for the overwhelming (and beautiful) emotions you experience when the love of your life drops to one knee. If you’ve grown up interacting with Disney as much as me, and watching luuurve flicks (think The Notebook, Titanic and Twilight) as much as me, and you love LOVE as much as me, there really is nothing better in this world than romance and the day of your proposal (I can probably thank my Mom for making me so soppy too). But seriously. When this magical, birds-tweeting, palms-sweating, crystal-shimmering-lights and secluded-bubble moment...

In an attempt to give you a little taste of the course, we have created this blog series, entitled simply, “Things You Need To Know To Travel Around The World”.
