As a regular reader of our blog, you’re familiar with our love for life-changing experiences. You know we left our predictable life over 3 years ago, in order to see the world and collect a whole bunch of memorable experiences. You also know we’ll do anything to tick off the items from our Wanderlist. If you’re not a regular reader, and you didn’t know all that, then welcome to the first of many posts about our desire to collect memories and not things. We thought it only be right to begin this blog post with that intro, because, well, we will tell you right now that attending the festival of colours a.k.a. Holi, in the mystical land of dreams (that celebrates...

    Austria / 21.12.2017

We’ve partnered up with global bike-sharing system Donkey Republic, and flight and accommodation search engine Momondo, to explore some of Europe’s most esteemed cities, hoping to prove that anywhere, anything, with anyone, at anytime, is simply a bike ride away…oh, and that there’s no better way to explore a city than on two wheels. Follow along in what we have affectionately called our #TourDeDonkey.   Our fifth stop: Vienna, Austria The mission: Explore (and photograph) the city’s festivities   If you are like most people, the festive season for you means food, family, friends, and frantic shopping.  If you travel on two wheels like we do, this might also mean new places to explore, new friends to make, and new traditions to try out. All...

    Czechia / 14.12.2017

Chances are you’re looking for your next big European adventure. Maybe you’re interested in some cultural excursions through the ages. Or you’re super keen on trying some traditional cuisine (and well-crafted beer). Maybe you want to go somewhere beautiful, no matter what time of year it is. If any of those scenarios apply to you, we can assure you Prague will completely overwhelm you (in the best way possible). There is so much to do and see in this fine city, and even staying for a few nights is enough to make you fall in love and plan your next trip (#truestory – we’re already planning our return in 2018).       But we don’t feel like we need to convince you to...

    Thailand / 04.12.2017

Do you guys remember our whirlwind tour of Peru? That time we went to Machu Picchu, the desert dunes of Paracas, and the mesmerising salt ponds of the sacred Inca Valley? Well, our recent trip to Thailand (again with the amazing guys from The Luxury Collection and Beautiful Destinations) was equally jam-packed, and just as magical (if not more so…we’ll let you be the judge ;) The timing of this trip was centred around the annual Yee Peng Festival (which is celebrated on the full moon of the twelfth lunar month), which meant we had to be in Chiang Mai on November 3rd to take part in this bucket-list-worthy mass-release lantern fest. But traveling all the way down to Thailand means you...

    Peru / 31.08.2017

Let's be honest, most people visiting the country of Peru will be headed for the Sacred Valley of the Incas to see the ancient city of Machu Picchu (and if you are indeed one of those who will be doing so, make sure you check out our other post, where we share what else you can do in and around the Inca Valley – because there really is LOADS more to do than simply see the seventh world wonder – although when I put it like that, it's clear why you're headed for Machu Picchu...

    Peru / 22.08.2017

Machu Picchu. A place that has managed to make its way onto almost everyone's bucket list; everyone's I-do-not-care-how-but-I-need-to-go-even-if-it-is-the-last-thing-I-do Wanderlist. Go on – go through your list in your head (or have a look at the one you've been populating ever since you signed up for our online course). We're assuming Machu Picchu is on there. And why wouldn't it be?! An ancient city discovered only a little over a century ago, and, as the Lonely Planet team puts it, (it is) "the best-known archaeological site on the continent" (of South America). Of course you're going to want to see it with your own eyes, and experience that "Old Peak" (which is what Machu Picchu actually translates to #FunFact). So did we. But what...

    Peru / 14.08.2017

As originally seen on huffingtonpost.com   There are some places on this magical planet that leave your jaw on the ground, whilst you drag it along like an old car dragging a broken bumper. The Maras Salt Ponds, located in the ancient Inca Sacred Valley in Peru (we are happy to say) is one of these such places.   [embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/BW-Ep9qnvad/?taken-by=howfarfromhome[/embed]   As our regular readers know, we have traveled to 41 countries over the past two and a half years, and we’ve been fortunate enough to pick up our jaws off the floor, at least a few times. Our trip to Namibia comes to mind, the waterfalls of Iceland had us drooling too, and the Benagil cave in Portugal was beyond anything we could imagine. This time,...

    Spain / 27.09.2016

Our TLC / BD trip* continued, and the next stop on the whirlwind itinerary was Seville in Spain. Beautiful, beautiful Sevilla (as it is known by locals). Ah, what a city! Small but not cramped (I noticed even in Barcelona that the Spaniards design their cities to be quite spacious so yay for Spain), and oh so colourful! The hotels, the common areas, the little dangling bunting running across the bridges - everywhere you look there’s bright colours luring you in, shining bright with a constant sunny disposition, leaving you feeling joyful and de-stressed. Who could ask for more? We checked in to one of the fanciest and adorned hotels we have ever seen – turns out it was designed for royalty,...

    Portugal / 19.09.2016

We get asked so often (by almost every single person we meet and tell our story to), "what is our favourite place of all?" Of the 100-odd cities we’ve seen, of the mountains, valleys, beaches and deserts we’ve explored, what is the ultimate place; the one we dream of visiting again and again and again? Well, that question is almost impossible to answer, because, well, there’s just too many spectacular places around the world to pinpoint ’the ultimate place'. Trust me, we debated, and argued, and tried, but couldn't choose just one. What we did conclude though, is that we definitely have favourite places under different criteria*. We have a favourite mountain range, favourite cuisine, a favourite city (although probably safe to...
