As seen on The Huffington Post The festive season is upon us, and you will soon be bombarded (if you haven’t been already), with “Super Snowy Christmas Savings”. You may also have suggestions fill up in your feed of the latest tech gadget that your child or significant other simply has to have, urging you to part with your hard-earned money that you saved throughout 2016. You might also remember gifts you received last year, and maybe you feel some ridiculous pressure to impress that certain someone this time round? Well, we have come up with a fool-proof solution for being the most popular person on Christmas morning. It’s simple really...

    Italy / 01.10.2016

You guys might remember our first trip to the Dolomites and the little town of San Candido (if you don’t, you can check out the story here). We caught a train ride from Austria arriving in the small town, instantly falling in love with the area and the gorgeous mountain range (which we, to this day, mark as our favourite range in the world). So our love for the town is there. Our love for the mountains, and the lakes, and the cute chapels is there. Why on Earth would we not want to return, and share this gorgeous place with friends? Why would we not want to take the opportunity to hike around the infamous UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Tre...

    Spain / 27.09.2016

Our TLC / BD trip* continued, and the next stop on the whirlwind itinerary was Seville in Spain. Beautiful, beautiful Sevilla (as it is known by locals). Ah, what a city! Small but not cramped (I noticed even in Barcelona that the Spaniards design their cities to be quite spacious so yay for Spain), and oh so colourful! The hotels, the common areas, the little dangling bunting running across the bridges - everywhere you look there’s bright colours luring you in, shining bright with a constant sunny disposition, leaving you feeling joyful and de-stressed. Who could ask for more? We checked in to one of the fanciest and adorned hotels we have ever seen – turns out it was designed for royalty,...

    Iceland / 17.08.2016

This is going to be the shortest post I've ever written, because, well, there is really only one reason why you shouldn't visit Iceland in the Summer, and that's because you have a thing against natural beauty; natural beauty that will lure you in and explode beneath your feet, in front of your eyes and completely take your soul; a kind of beauty that will force you to reconsider all future Summer travel plans because you will want to come back again and again and again. Natural beauty that shows off every minute of every day. From the colourful sands of Landmannalaugar, and giant ice blocks at the Jökulsárlón lagoon, to the gushing waterfalls at Skogafoss, Gljúfrabúi and Seljalandsfoss, and miracle waters...

    Mauritius / 23.05.2016

Half the fun of travel, as we’ve seen with our recent trips through East Africa, Central Europe, Austria's Winter Wonderland and now Mauritius, is that it’s the people you meet and get to spend time with, that really make the trip. We’ve been extremely lucky to meet some crazy, cool, and creative people during our 15 months, but one of the highlights for sure, has been the recent trip we did with fellow South African photographers, Roy, Gareth, Gav and Scrooch, and the wonderful social media team at the LUX* Resorts & Hotels in Mauritius. We met with the LUX* team (btw you should seriously check out their array of hotels and resorts - Mind. Blown.) for a campaign we called #LUXin4days, and we explored this...

    Entrepreneurship / 25.04.2016

We recently launched our FaceBook page. It's nothing fancy - somewhere to house and share our blog post links, Instagram posts, current news, and soon, our live events. To be honest, we were hesitant to launch a FaceBook page, and, well, you could say we've waited a lifetime (in social terms) to do so, only going live after 14 months of launching the How Far From Home brand. We also recently received a message from someone saying "Welcome to Facebook :-) You call yourselves marketing people and you only joined now. Tisk tisk. Lol." Or something like that. Perhaps all the poop scooping and unplugging got to our heads Mr Lol, but in what marketing text book (do those still exist?) or how-to-create-a-successful-brand-for-dummies handbook...

    Austria / 29.01.2016

Travel is a strange thing. Every new place you visit leaves an impression on you. Sometimes, it's filled with hidden gems that blow you away, turning you into a renegade travel ambassador, selflessly promoting this new place you've found; and sometimes, you experience a massive let down that leaves you underwhelmed and with a bad taste in your mouth. Sometimes though, you visit a place that you didn't even know about; a place you stumble upon, and a place that paints its own picture in your canvas thoughts. Enter Bad Gastein. We were recently fortunate enough to be invited to an Instameet, hosted by @VisitBadGastein, in this town we hadn't even heard of. Grammars from all over Germany and Austria descended into the Alpine...

    England / 08.12.2015

Home to the Union Jack, Queen Elizabeth's guards, (currently) the world's largest Ferris wheel, and the original underground train line, London, let me just say, is on a completely different level. This was not our first trip to London. We galavanted through the British streets back in 2012, on a Eurotrip that inspired us to come back to Europe. It was pleasant to see that not much has changed in three years, and, if anything, London has gotten more beautiful. We were lucky to visit the European Instagram headquarters on this trip, to have lunch with some of the world's coolest and smartest people (they really are). The offices too were (unsurprisingly) fabulous - with game rooms, nap pods and a sweet...

    Austria / 21.10.2015

Our motto and motivation is to “collect experiences, not things”. Whilst on our journey, we’re aiming to spend our time and money on spectacular experiences, to be left with incredible learnings and memories, not tangible objects. This way, we’re sure to keep our lives light without additional luggage, but also be the change we want to see in the world. Our next featured experience is a day at the Redbull Hangar-7 in Salzburg. As part of the 12th annual Worldwide Instameet, the Austrian Igers partnered up with Boom Creative Lab and Redbull to take us 30 odd Instagram-nuts on a never-to-be-forgotten Redbull experience. In a double-decker drum-and-bass-blowing party bus, we headed from the Salzburg Hauptbahnhof to our event's destination - none other,...

    Germany / 19.10.2015

We have such a special relationship with Munich. Not because we love it more than other European cities (although it's definitely in our top 5), but because we have visited it 9 times already, and only really explored it recently, at the 12th Worldwide Instameet with the Munich Igers and our friend Ant, who joined us for yet another adventure, a.k.a AntVenture. Munich has always been our meeting point, our stopping ground, and our place for layover. Whether we were arriving from or leaving to South Africa, or simply passing through to get from one European city to another, we know the Munich Hauptbahnhof like the back of our hand (we've even spent a night napping on the station's floor, waiting for a 3am train #travelingonabudget). But...
