Day Trip To Burghausen, Germany

Day Trip To Burghausen, Germany

It’s not everyday you get to drive into another country for the morning; at least not for a couple of South Africans. This was a quite a new concept.

Chanel: “What do you want to do today?
Steve: “Not sure hey, maybe a drive to the lake?
Chanel: “How about we drive to Germany?

Being only 45 minuets away from our current location, the town of Burghausen, situated in the Altötting district, was the perfect way to spend a weekday. Hopping the border was as easy as driving across the Salzach river into the old town. You are immediately taken aback by the vibrant coloured building in the main square, but then as you look up, you see a massive castle complex dominating the skyline. The Burghausen castle is the longest castle in Europe, at over 1km in length, and has been around since man could barely walk upright. There have been mentions of this castle in literature from the year 1025. Let’s just say there is some culture here.

The end of winter is not the best time to visit, but it was impressive none the less. See some of our snaps from this little German gem, below.

Conceptually, does the 9069km and 9070km’s signs signify the start and the end of the castle? Just wanna know what you’re trying to communicate here…
