12 Oct The World Is Waiting – And We’re Coming For It (COVID-series)
I wanted to share an update. Some regular readers of the How Far From Home blog would have noticed that we’ve gone extremely quiet on here (and on all platforms, really). Those of you following us on Instagram will know that this year has dealt Stevo and I a really tough hand. His back injury in February has kept us under one roof for 8 months – something we have not done since living our “normal” lives back in 2014 – and then in June we both caught the Delta variant of COVID-19, which, luckily, Stevo fought off in a few weeks, but, sadly, I am still feeling the remnants of, 4 months later. To say that this year has been the toughest either of us have ever experienced would be, well, the truth.
But the fact that I’m able to write this post signifies to me that we’re nearly at the end of this nightmare. After not having the strength to get out of bed for 6 weeks, and then a very slow recovery, it’s made me extremely grateful to be alive, and it’s reminded me of the importance of living with purpose, because the days we have are so precious. I don’t want to rehash the details of the last 8 months, or tell you how awful it’s been (How Far From Home is a happy and positive blog, after all) but I do want to say that we believe the worst is over for us, and we’re now only looking forward. The sun after the proverbial storm is gently sending rays onto our faces.
So while we chose to go offline and shut down our agency so we could focus on getting better for the better part of 2021, we’re feeling hopeful for the future and are already planning our next big adventure. It’s going to require some patience (as we wait for Stevo’s back to get completely healed so he can do things like drive and carry a backpack, and for me to be strong enough to walk more than 400m and stay vertical for a full day) but we know the day will come when we can venture on again. We’ve had to adjust some plans and delay some projects, and we won’t be able to do some of the things we wanted to (at least not now), but that’s ok. Everything has a way of working itself out to be exactly how it’s meant to be, right?
It’s also worth mentioning that this year’s tough outcomes have taught us so much – about ourselves, our bodies, our strength, and where we needed to adjust and improve – and so we’re the better for it. Better routines, more green juice, and with it, longevity and a new love for life.
We’re really grateful that you’ve stuck around with us, and are invested in our journey. We miss sharing our creativity with you and cannot wait to get back into the swing of things soon. We’ll keep you posted (and hopefully entertained and delighted) again soon!

Good on you guys for staying strong and appreciative of what you do have. Looking forward to seeing what you guys’ next adventure is. And all the best to you Stevo. You’ve come a long way and not long now, your back will be back to normal again!
