The Most Beautiful Beaches Along The U.S. East Coast

Escaping to a gorgeous beach is always a great way to reset. While you’ll find sandy coastlines, roaring waves, and stunning scenery wherever you go, the East Coast of USA delivers some of the country’s most beautiful shores (and may be the perfect trip extension if you’re coming from abroad and looking to visit New York like Chanel and Stevo did). Here are 10 seaside getaways for beach lovers to visit this year.

Easton’s Beach, Rhode Island

Newport is home to Easton’s Beach, which locals adore as much as visitors. Everyone gets to spread out along a three-quarter-mile coastline, complete with a concession stand, showers and lockers. After a few hours frolicking in the waves, kids can visit the beach’s playground to dry off in the sun.

This is a great vacation destination if you’re a history buff too, as the coastal town has been famous since the Gilded Age. There’s no shortage of mansion tours and historic venues to see while you’re in the area. For those less interested in history, the local aquarium or arcade delivers fun for everyone.

    Cooper’s Beach, New York

People’s long-lasting love for Cooper’s Beach is reflected in its stretch of historic homes. After renting your beach gear for the day, you can bury your feet in the white sand and enjoy your favorite book. Visitors of all ages have lots of fun in the clear Atlantic waters and expansive dunes.

If you’re looking for a break from the summer heat, the local aquarium, lighthouse and wildlife refuge museum offer indoor activities. Cooper’s Beach certainly doesn’t lack in dining options, either.

      Venice Beach, Florida

Do you dream about turquoise waters and dolphins? Then Venice Beach is the best place for you to visit this summer. Soak up the beauty while snorkeling a quarter-mile offshore in its abundant reefs, or walk the pier after a sunset dinner.

There are plenty of family-oriented activities, and options for a romantic date night too. For instance, you might organize a scavenger hunt with local businesses, schedule a wildlife-watching tour, or get tickets at the local movie theater. There’s even a “paw park” on the beach for dogs to run off-leash.

        Burkes Beach, South Carolina

Myrtle Beach may be South Carolina’s most popular vacation stop, but the state boasts several other beautiful coastal regions, like Burkes Beach. Burkes Beach is part of Hilton Head Island’s northern coastline, close to the Disney resort and the island’s small airport.

Hilton Head Island offers plenty of shopping and dining experiences for residents and visitors. However, many prefer to remove themselves from the bustling crowds and escape to the beach. You’ll feel like you’ve found a quiet pocket of the world for yourself.

          Nags Head, North Carolina

Anyone who wants to unplug this summer should visit Nags Head in the Outer Banks. The beach is a popular place for camping, but the locals also value their quiet time. Stop by the family-owned shops and restaurants when you’re not walking along the 12 miles of coastline. The lack of tourist activities makes this a popular destination for beach lovers who want to kick back with a cocktail on a beachfront porch and listen to the waves.

            Buckroe Beach, Virginia

Virginia Beach hosts some of summer’s biggest crowds, but you’ll love Buckroe Beach just as much. It’s a quieter coastline north of Virginia Beach, where singles, couples and families travel for nautical fun. Swim in the ocean or sign up for a boat ride. Boat captains are more than willing to impart their maritime skills and stories while sailing the waves. Aside from basking in the sun, you can visit Buckroe Beach’s family-owned businesses along the main road.

              Anna Maria Island, Florida

Step back in time when you visit Anna Maria Island this summer. This beach town is renowned for its quaint historic shops, cottages and restaurants. After spending the day on white sand beaches, visit local art galleries for one-of-a-kind works by local artists. The serene destination is the ultimate place for a small-town getaway at the beach.

                Cumberland Island, Georgia

As you prepare for your next beach excursion, you’re likely planning what to see and do, including local pit stops if you’re road-tripping to your destination. Perhaps you’ll even travel by boat to get there — after all, it’s the only way to access Cumberland Island’s iconic beaches and bike-only roads.

You’ll have to park your car on the mainland and take the passenger boat to your Cumberland vacation rental. After you unpack your bags, you can rent a bicycle to attend historic venue tours or sail across the beloved hiking trails that crisscross the island.

                  Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina

The Outer Banks aren’t the only beaches in North Carolina. Wrightsville Beach in the state’s southeastern region offers just as much excitement. Located in Wilmington, Wrightsville has something for every traveler in your group.

Feast on fresh seafood, fish off Johnnie Mercers Fishing Pier and participate in numerous outdoor activities like snorkelling, paddle-boarding, and kayaking. When the sun sets, take a shoreline stroll along Shell Island Resort to collect beautiful seashell momentos.

                    North Beach, Georgia

Tybee Island is home to North Beach — one of the most beautiful beaches along the East Coast. If you get up early enough, you’ll find whole seashells waiting for you on the sandy shores. Enjoy every moment of your days spent at historic bed and breakfast venues, local restaurants, and shops selling handmade artwork and decor.

                    Bethany Beach, Delaware

You don’t have to venture outside the northeastern United States to find a gorgeous beach. Check out Bethany Beach when you’re ready for fun in the sun. The coastal area has deep blue waters, and clean, sandy dunes perfect for evening strolls or a day in the water.

If you find yourself craving time in air conditioning, there’s plenty to do in town. Tour historic venues, visit the nature center, or check out the town’s current events calendar to see what’s happening during your stay. Whether you rent ocean kayaks or browse the boardwalk shops, you’ll leave with new memories you could have only made in Bethany Beach.
