Our motto and motivation is to “collect experiences, not things”. Whilst on our journey, we’re aiming to spend our time and money on spectacular experiences, to be left with incredible learnings and memories, not tangible objects. This way, we’re sure to keep our lives light without additional luggage, but also be the change we want to see in the world. Our next featured experience is a week spent living on a remote island in Iceland, Traustholtshólmi. It's not often we get to experience world firsts, and, well, we got to live on a private island with Hákon – the world's only man living alone on an island surrounded by a glacial river (I guess he technically isn't alone, as he has his...

This way, we’re sure to keep our lives light without additional luggage, but also be the change we want to see in the world. Our next featured experience is the Topdeck Travel tour, East African Explorer. This was our third taste of group travel, so one could say we are slowly growing out of the 'Group-Travel Novice' status, after the 17-day European excursion late last year, and now this trip – something a little closer to home, and something a little more adventurous. This way, we’re sure to keep our lives light without additional luggage, but also be the change we want to see in the world. Our next featured experience is a Safari in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania.   Whether you're knowledgeable about African wildlife or not, chances are you've heard about the mighty Serengeti. *cue The Lion King theme song* It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the world's animal kingdom, and the largest national park in Tanzania. It's home to thousands of animal and bird species, and is probably most...

    BE INSPIRED / 18.04.2016

March 2nd 2015 was departure day. It was the day we waved goodbye to South Africa, goodbye to a comfortable life with a comfortable salary, and goodbye to the somewhat predictable life we'd lived for over 29 years. On March 2nd 2015 we opted to say hello to spontaneity, curiosity, and a life-changing experience liberating us from everything (other than four bags of essentials and our hungry craving for adventure and need to create). I would like to say that March 2nd 2015 was a good day. It was also over a year ago, which is f%#*ing crazy! I sincerely feel like this adventure of ours has just begun, and we've been on the road for nearly 14 months now! It's madness. But it's...

Our next featured experience is a South Luangwa National Park Safari in Zambia. During our recent African adventure with our friends from Topdeck Travel, we were fortunate enough to visit Zambia's southern most national park, South Luangwa National Park, to spend two magical nights sleeping unfenced beside hippos (who we heard), baboons (who we spotted), and lions (whose marks we saw only a...

    Zambia / 29.03.2016

Different from our usual just-the-two-of-us trips, we recently took a Topdeck Travel tour, for a group-travel experience of a lifetime. 21 days, 4 countries, 14 sleeping destinations, and a collection of 14 strangers who have proven that the best part of travel is the people you meet along the way. The first country on our East African Explorer tour was Zambia. Thick, luscious, green fields for miles; tropical and humid temperatures; friendly people with lovely faces. Our first impressions of Zambia immediately gear towards the outdoors - the beautiful, beautiful outdoors; and the people, whose welcoming nature made the first stop on our Topdeck trip a really special one. We (naturally) started our Zambian adventure in Livingstone, with a visit to Victoria Falls -...

Whilst on our journey, we’re aiming to spend our time and money on spectacular experiences, to be left with incredible learnings and memories, not tangible objects. This way, we’re sure to keep our lives light without additional luggage, but also be the change we want to see in the world. Our next featured experience is a visit to the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town. As I'm sure you've gathered, we LOVE animals; furry ones, fluffy ones, slippery ones, and ones that can imitate other ones. I think my childhood dream (a long, long time ago) was to become a marine biologist...

    Food, Wellness / 01.02.2016

Ever since 2013, people from all over the world have been celebrating Veganuary (pronounced vee-gan-you-airy) which, like other global do-good movements (Movember and Earth Hour come to mind), aims to raise awareness to a cause or concept with a mass following, in the hope that a) the idea will spread; and b) that the small taster* will inspire the participants to practice the movement in everyday life (not just for the selected time period). I didn't know too much about Veganuary (or veganism for that matter) until recently. Sure, I'd heard of it, and since one of our friends, Dani, is a vegan, I was exposed to the ideas and recipes that were purely plant-based. I was diagnosed with a dairy allergy...
