Ok, ok, I might be getting a little ahead of myself. No, we have not decided to give up our full-time traveling life (yet). There’s still some burning steam left in us, and there’s still a million and one things we need to see and photograph (obvs), all across this beautiful planet, so no, we are not moving to Helsinki just yet. BUT. When we do eventually decide to settle, and get dogs (that’s really the main reason we’d give up this whirlwind life), I am going to fight hard for it to be in Helsinki. Let me tell you why...
Warning: this post may induce some serious need to give up animal products, and should be read with caution. It’s been exactly 2 years and 1 week since I threw in the creamy, meaty towel, and made a decision to go vegan. You guys might remember that digital dinner party we had with friends back home, to celebrate my first stint of veganism, and to collaborate with 99 other creatives on the 31days project? Well, as 2018 has popped its head around the corner (happy new year btw!) with it comes another Veganuary (Movember's animal-loving cousin, a.k.a. a January dedicated to trying the vegan lifestyle), which has led me to celebrate who I have become: a Travel Vegan. Now let me backtrack...
Chances are you’re looking for your next big European adventure. Maybe you’re interested in some cultural excursions through the ages. Or you’re super keen on trying some traditional cuisine (and well-crafted beer). Maybe you want to go somewhere beautiful, no matter what time of year it is. If any of those scenarios apply to you, we can assure you Prague will completely overwhelm you (in the best way possible). There is so much to do and see in this fine city, and even staying for a few nights is enough to make you fall in love and plan your next trip (#truestory – we’re already planning our return in 2018). But we don’t feel like we need to convince you to...
We are three weeks into our month-long sugarmoon (you know, that special time after you get engaged?), staying on the island of Solta in Croatia, and in a very strange way, it's starting to feel a lot like home. Not home as in South Africa. Home in the ‘comfortable’ sense. Staying still for an entire month has created some stability for us, it seems. We can explore better (not rush through ticking off only a few sites), and we can act like locals – really learning about where to go for the best beer, what time you can get the best lighting for a photograph, and where the secret (or difficult-to-get-to) locations are, because, well, we have the time. Staying put also...
We’ve partnered up with global bike-sharing system Donkey Republic, and flight and accommodation search engine Momondo, to explore some of Europe’s most esteemed cities, hoping to prove that anywhere, anything, with anyone, at anytime, is simply a bike ride away…oh, and that there’s no better way to explore a city than on two wheels. Follow along in what we have affectionately called our #TourDeDonkey. Our third stop: Berlin, Germany The mission: Create a beat with a local artist (and get musically inspired) This was not our first trip to Berlin. We visited it on a brief sweep nearly 2.5 years ago, but our mission back then was a simple touristy one. This time, we flew into Berlin Schoenefeld (as you can, from practically...
Update: We got married on February 9th, 2020! You can watch our wedding film here and see the full Wedding Series on our blog here. Nothing can quite prepare you for the overwhelming (and beautiful) emotions you experience when the love of your life drops to one knee. If you've grown up interacting with Disney as much as me, and watching luuurve flicks (think The Notebook, Titanic and Twilight) as much as me, and you love LOVE as much as me, there really is nothing better in this world than romance and the day of your proposal (I can probably thank my Mom for making me so soppy too). But seriously. When this magical, birds-tweeting, palms-sweating, crystal-shimmering-lights and secluded-bubble moment finally happens to...

Follow along in what we have affectionately called our #TourDeDonkey. Our second stop: Madrid, Spain The mission: Showcase Madrid's diversity Some say there is no city on Earth, that is more alive. Some say it has an extremely vivacious (and flamboyant) spring in its step. Some say, as the capital of Spain, Madrid can often teach the people living there, how to truly live. Well, how appealing does that all sound?! Of...
Let's be honest, most people visiting the country of Peru will be headed for the Sacred Valley of the Incas to see the ancient city of Machu Picchu (and if you are indeed one of those who will be doing so, make sure you check out our other post, where we share what else you can do in and around the Inca Valley – because there really is LOADS more to do than simply see the seventh world wonder – although when I put it like that, it's clear why you're headed for Machu Picchu...
Machu Picchu. A place that has managed to make its way onto almost everyone's bucket list; everyone's I-do-not-care-how-but-I-need-to-go-even-if-it-is-the-last-thing-I-do Wanderlist. Go on – go through your list in your head (or have a look at the one you've been populating ever since you signed up for our online course). We're assuming Machu Picchu is on there. And why wouldn't it be?! An ancient city discovered only a little over a century ago, and, as the Lonely Planet team puts it, (it is) "the best-known archaeological site on the continent" (of South America). Of course you're going to want to see it with your own eyes, and experience that "Old Peak" (which is what Machu Picchu actually translates to #FunFact). So did we. But what...
