Practical Ways To Keep Your Travel Memories Alive

For a long time now, we are unable to travel due to the pandemic, so we are forced to be content with imaginative journeys in our minds, and planning future travels. But this might also be the best time to reminisce about some of our favourite travels from the past, and relive our memories as they are the ones keeping us company during these difficult times.

Have you recently seen some past holiday photos, causing your heart to be flooded with joy and excitement about the places you explored and the moments you lived through? Did you get notified of a Facebook memory from two or three years ago when you went island hopping in Indonesia or mountain hiking in Austria?

Travel adventures come and go. They fascinate us in the moment when we live them, offer us unique experiences, and enrich our lives beyond our absurdest expectations. We want to keep our latest experiences as fresh and vibrant as possible during our trip and soon after returning home. However, when we return to our daily routine, these experiences slowly fade away. Especially when a long time has passed – we realize that we have forgotten a lot.

Keep reading for some practical ways to keep your travel memories alive, allowing you to relive them through these uncertain times:

Hang Up Photos On Your Walls

A great idea is to use photos from your travels to decorate the walls of your home. There is nothing more personal than turning your enthusiasm for travel into your space’s decoration. Dedicate a small corner of your living room to hang your favourite photos, or turn that work-from-home desk space into a travel sanctuary.

Also, when you’re able to have friends come around to your home again, having photos from your past trips in the foreground will make a strong impression on your guests, who will most probably rush to ask you something about your trip. In this way, you will relive the experiences every time someone asks you about them.

If you don’t have any photos you want to print and post, look to your favourite photographers (wink, wink) who have also travelled to the same destinations as you, as chances are they have a print shop online. If you’re looking to escape to Italy or Peru, for example, make sure to browse through the HFFH Shop which has, over the last few months, launched to offer mesmerising photo prints from some of Chanel & Stevo’s favourite destinations

Create A Travel Photo Book

You could gather your favourite photos from your trips, and have them all together in one easy-to-reach place. Instead of keeping them all on your phone hiding in an album on Facebook, or lost to the grid of Instagram, you could make a travel photo book – an album-like book with all the photos you love.  Every time you open it, the beautiful and unique experiences you had will be revived, and all those magical memories will return.

It’s easy to make a travel photo book, and the reward is well worth the effort. Also, travel photo books are a great gift idea for your loved ones who shared their travel experiences with you. Anniversary coming up? Still don’t have a gift idea for Mother’s Day? This might be a great time to look at creating a travel photo book. Decorate Your Space With Items From Your Favourite Destination

Some people decorate each room of their home according to a specific theme, such as an African safari or the South American jungles. What memorable trips have you taken that you could turn into an entire space in your home?

Further to buying art prints and printing your own photographs, you could buy decor items and furniture from artisans and small businesses who are based in the destinations of your most memorable trips. The HFFH Shop is currently working on providing a marketplace to allow small sustainable businesses and artisans from around the world to sell their items, so make sure you stay tuned and watch this space, as Chanel & Stevo have been hard at work to help everyone travel from home.

Edit A Video To Keep The Memories Alive

Videos have become part of our daily lives, and our travels. As the popular adage goes, ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’, but a video captures all the emotions, movements, sounds and colours of a beautiful moment.

There are special programs that can help you edit your videos, allowing you to be the star, and front and centre of an epic travel adventure which you can watch and rewatch as the memories of your trips fade. You may also choose to share your edited video online – who knows, it may get picked up by a travel publication and gain you some time in the limelight.

If this is something that interests you, you may want to create a video keeping professional specifications in mind. That way, you will be able to capture your viewers’ interest and maybe even increase your popularity, and this occupation may even bring you a steady income. One way to achieve this professionalism in your videos, is editing them with voiceover tracks, which will guide the viewer through your video. Of course, you can do this storytelling by yourself if you have the knowledge, but you can trust a voice acting agency like Voquent, which can offer you quality voice acting services at the most economical prices, especially if you’re starting out and don’t have the immediate know-how that you learn over time.
