Jozi Through Tourist’s Eyes

Jozi Through Tourist’s Eyes

Isn’t it strange how, when you’re a tourist in a foreign place, everything you see is exciting and photo-worthy? From the gripping architecture, and unfamiliar landscapes, to the local cookery, and strangers you meet along the way. You automatically find yourself stopping to take it all in, capturing every part of your journey because you subconsciously think that you might never see or experience it again. On the contrary, when you’ve driven down the same street for decades, eaten at the same restaurants, and passed the same buildings, you forget to look. It’s as if you’re wearing blinkers, strongly forcing yourself to only focus on getting to point B. You miss out on the tourist’s perspective, taking things for granted and missing out on everything the foreigners see.

As D-day looms, we set ourselves a challenge, inspired by the guys at Virtual Tourist to get a foreigner’s vantage point of the city we’ve grown up in, Johannesburg.

This is what she looks like.
