From family wedding bells in kangaroo-filled nature parks, and boat rides across aquamarine waters surrounding deserted islands, to wine farm hopping and beach dune camping, our trip to Western Australia has been one for the record books.

 

WEDDING BELLS IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA

 

Our final stop in the Australian leg of this trip, after two high-class weeks in Sydney, was filled with festivities, quite literally, for days. Stevo’s oldest brother got married on November 7th at the gorgeous Serpentine Retreat Centre. With a sunset ceremony and some chilling acapella performances from the cover band, we danced the night away (and stuffed our faces the Spanish way with possibly the best paella I had ever tasted, from the Olè Paella catering crew). Biggest congrats to Nick & Rachel – thank you for having us share in your special day!

 

 

 

ISLAND PARADISE ON ROTTNEST ISLAND – WESTERN AUSTRALIA

 

The wedding vibes continued with a three-night stay on Rottnest Island, where spotting furry Quokkas (you should seriously check out the #QuokkaSelfie hashtag sometime) and snorkeling among Wobbegong Sharks, and ‘Rays became the norm. Gosh what a special, special place! So many activities to rope you in, from bay-to-bay biking and sundowners at the local bar, to kayaking, surfing, and paddle-boarding along crystal clear waters. To say that we left rejuvenated would be an understatement, so if it’s solitude with views you’re after, the 45 minute ride from Perth’s Fremantle port is well worth it.

 

 

 

A ROAD TRIP ALONG THE WEST COAST – WESTERN AUSTRALIA

 

Shortly after returning from the island, we decided to take a road trip up the west coast to enjoy fishing, camping, dune running, and astrophotography, between Sandy Cape, Jurien Bay and Cervantes. We were woken up by scurrying foxes, caught a few puffer fish, and witnessed a storm at the otherworldly Pinnacles found in the Nambung National Park. An eventful trip for any outdoor-lover.

 

 

 

WINE AND WILDLIFE IN MARGARET RIVER – WESTERN AUSTRALIA

 

And if wine tasting at luscious vineyards along serene meanders is more your thing, taking a trip through to Margaret River is something you should add to your must-do-in-WA list. The area offers cave tours, delectable wine farms, beaches with monstrous rock formations, and, arguably, some of the best sunset fishing in Western Australian.

 

 

 

THE CITY OF PERTH – WESTERN AUSTRALIA

 

And even though we only spent a couple short days in the city of Perth, what we did see was a buzzing, young, and vibrant space, rich in street culture, coming-of-age hipsters, and dog beaches (basically the happiest place on Earth for any dog lover).
