Our motto and motivation is to “collect experiences, not things”. Whilst on our journey, we’re aiming to spend our time and money on spectacular experiences, to be left with incredible learnings and memories, not tangible objects. This way, we’re sure to keep our lives light without additional luggage, but also be the change we want to see in the world. Our next featured experience is a detox at the Yoga and Meditation Retreat, Vagabond Temple, in Cambodia.   I'm writing this from what is known as "the private corner". The private corner is essentially a small square table (positioned perfectly under five trees to attain constant shade), surrounded by four wooden benches. If one sits in the private corner it means he or she is either...

Having just boarded our 60th airplane in two years (I like to track all the experiences on our trip…about to sleep in our 100th bed too, haha), we thought we’d dedicate a blog post to this still-cannot-believe-it’s-possible form of transport. If you have a fear of flying like I do (side note: it’s gotten a lot better in these 60 flights – I no longer crawl up into a ball of crying fits during take-off…now I just put my head of Stevo’s shoulder for comfort - this is a HUGE success for me), the thought of boarding a giant mechanical vessel that will reach heights of 39 000 feet (approx 12km) and speeds of 500 knots (approx 575 m/h or 926km/h),...

Some of you may know that I turned vegan in January. It began with the Veganuary month-long challenge that the team at 31days dared me to take on, and after feeling the health benefits (and knowing the power of veganism to combat the too-much-talk-not-enough-action environmental issues), I decided to stay on and see how long I could last. Yes I’ve cheated once or twice, and yes I eat fish sometimes (especially when we are staying on an island in Iceland that basically lives off the wild salmon from the river around it, or when we visit friends in Swedish Lapland and get offered a rare Swedish delicacy of fermented herring - have to try everything once, right?) but for the most part, probably...

We've heard it being said a thousand times - "health comes first," and, well, this couldn't be more true especially when traveling. If you're stuck in bed and battling with a cold, or you're on crutches trekking through busy markets, you're not exactly getting the cultural experience you signed up for. Lemon tea with honey may be nice, but if you're in the Rum capital of the world, you're going to want to taste the honey infused Rum instead. So staying fit and healthy, no matter where you're going, and for how long you're planning on being a nomad, is essential. We've been super lucky *touches long wooden object* to be relatively healthy over the past 14 months. Yes, we've had to...

As originally seen on cerebra.co.za in a guest post. The creative process is an interesting thing. Everyone has their own methodologies, their own banks they visit for inspiration, and their own preferred times of day to get in the zone. Yet, as creative beings, we are all driven by this need to create; this need to make a mark and take what is in our head and put it out into the world. And, wow, it's amazing when it happens. Whether it's a new song we’ve written, a new move we've mastered, or new illustration style we've created. It's surreal when we see it come to life. Sometimes, however, we hit a rut. We get stuck and we don't feel the inspiration we...

Ever since 2013, people from all over the world have been celebrating Veganuary (pronounced vee-gan-you-airy) which, like other global do-good movements (Movember and Earth Hour come to mind), aims to raise awareness to a cause or concept with a mass following, in the hope that a) the idea will spread; and b) that the small taster* will inspire the participants to practice the movement in everyday life (not just for the selected time period). I didn't know too much about Veganuary (or veganism for that matter) until recently. Sure, I'd heard of it, and since one of our friends, Dani, is a vegan, I was exposed to the ideas and recipes that were purely plant-based. I was diagnosed with a dairy allergy...

Inspired by our recent experiences of attending a Greek cooking class on the island of Poros and touring Florence in a vintage Fiat 500, our quest to inspire people to #LiveWithLess has evolved to a little more than us simply telling everyone we meet to read James Wallman's Stuffocation (which you really, really should). Before departing on our journey, we created our Wanderlist (our version of a travel bucket list) and recently looked at it and noticed how many worthy-of-their-own-limelight experiences were on it; featuring both experiences we've been dying to do for years, and amazing recommendations from our community, that we hadn't even thought of. As a result, we have created a series of graphics that illustrate what you can get...

Austria, BE INSPIRED, Creativity, Wellness / 09.10.2015

After recent city explorations in Athens, Florence, Perugia and Istanbul, one of our favourite travel companions Langly, challenged us to #PackAndGo get back into the wilderness, like we did in the summer in Norway and Sweden. As we're both lovers of the outdoors and the environment, we couldn't have run out of our accommodation fast enough. We started thinking about the crisp fresh air, wild landscapes, indigenous wildlife, mirrored lakes and never-ending hiking trails that we experienced just a few short months ago, and it made us hungry to get out again. So our trek into the serene meadows of Austria began. We soon realized, that a life outdoors is so incredibly natural for us, that we almost blended into our surroundings; we became tiny specks in...
