Bali’s Best Coworking Space For Travelling Photographers

Bali’s Best Coworking Space For Travelling Photographers

Bali attracts photographers from all over the world, and it’s no wonder why…

Bali Coworking Space | How Far From Home

We absolutely loved our time on the Indonesian island, and cannot WAIT to go back. But any photographer that roams the Earth – and is lucky enough to sustain that wanderlust lifestyle professionally, or otherwise, like we do – knows that taking that perfect shot is only half the battle. Post-production, personal branding, networking, and that lovely, lovely admin…

It’s these aspects of the hustle that separate photographers in a saturated industry.

While there are some fantastic coworking spaces in Bali where you can accomplish the more mundane tasks, they aren’t spaces that have embedded the needs of the travelling photographer into their raison de’tre.

Enter Genesis Creative Centre – a new coworking space concept, with creative studios (five of them, to be exact) – one of them being a photography studio.

PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIO

This 5x5m room is Bali’s most accessible photography studio, AND it has equipment for you to use (in case you travel really light, and leave most of your gear behind). Expect to find a Sony A7RII camera, various lenses, lights, tripods, cyclorama, and an iMac with relevant editing software. Various sessions can take place at the studio – so if you’re needing a space for catalog or product shoots, or for your YouTube taste test or Masterclass – this might be the best place for it. Also, if you need to rent any extra gear for those out-of-studio shoots around the Island of the Gods, the studio has an ongoing partnership with photography rental company Pondok Lensa too, offering Genesis members some fancy discounts.

MEMBERS-ONLY COWORKING SPACE

Just above the photography studio is a coworking space, big enough to hold 30 members at a time. The typical Genesis member, is a photographer who uses his or her 15% membership discount (score!) at the Photography studio, or any other creative really, who requires regular access to the Music, Fashion, Workshop or Art studios.

Also fun to note, that with their furniture coming from Collection by VIVERE, they’ve got that crucial (yet often neglected) aspect of any coworking space – comfortable chairs, aaaah.

You may even find some of the industry’s best getting their work done at Genesis, as our friend Jordan Hammond has been frequenting the studio and has this to say about it:

“Finding a good workspace in Canggu has been a real struggle for me over the past year. There’s either no AC, not enough plug sockets, or below average coffee. Genesis has completely changed the game, however. The coworking space is fantastic – comfortable chairs, enough room on the desk to work, and the design brings out everyone’s creativity. Not only that, but as a photographer the photography studio has been super useful over the past few months. I’ve managed to shoot parts of my YouTube video there, as well as photo shoots for clients. Genesis is ahead of the game for creators and digital nomads in Bali, and I’d highly recommend dropping in while you’re in town.”

DON’T NEED A PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIO, OR MEMBERSHIP?

Photography Workshops

Genesis regularly hosts photography workshops that are open to the public. Any photographer that gets ahead of him- or herself, thinking they can’t learn anything new, is destined to limit their potential. It’s always great to hear how other talented creatives approach their work (you’ll normally walk away learning at least one new thing) so the workshops are the perfect opportunity for that. They’re free, and happen from time to time, so make sure to check out their calendar for any upcoming sessions.

IN SUMMARY…

Bali now has a Creative Centre that takes a three-dimensional, multi-disciplinary approach to creativity, and with that, comes the inspiration and potential for collaboration on creative projects unlike any other. We cannot wait to check it out on our next Bali exploration, and it’s probably safe to say that if you’re a travelling photographer in Bali, then you now have the perfect spot to call home (outside of your incredible villa, of course ;).
