Our motto and motivation is to “collect experiences, not things”. Whilst on our journey, we’re aiming to spend our time and money on spectacular experiences, to be left with incredible learnings and memories, not tangible objects. This way, we’re sure to keep our lives light without additional luggage, but also be the change we want to see in the world. Our next featured experience is the Trafalgar tour, Contrasts of New Zealand.     Travellers come in all shapes and sizes. Each have their own unique way of interacting with the places they visit. Some stay hidden in the walls of the resort, only to venture out in perfect conditions. Others like to avoid their dwellings and prefer to get lost off the...

This way, we’re sure to keep our lives light without additional luggage, but also be the change we want to see in the world. Our next featured experience is the Topdeck Travel tour, East African Explorer. This was our third taste of group travel, so one could say we are slowly growing out of the ‘Group-Travel Novice’ status, after the 17-day European excursion late last year, and now this trip – something a little closer to home, and something a little more adventurous. Surprisingly, we’re starting to...

This way, we’re sure to keep our lives light without additional luggage, but also be the change we want to see in the world. Our next featured experience is the Topdeck Travel tour, Trail to the Alps. Let’s talk about group travel for a minute. First few things that came to mind (up until recently) were: hangovers, no sleep, strangers, tears, young just-left-schoolians, and awkward small talk. A short while ago, our idea of group travel was a fairly chaotic one, as we remembered our...

This way, we’re sure to keep our lives light without additional luggage, but also be the change we want to see in the world. Our third featured experience is the annual Munich Oktoberfest. Beers, boobs and bretzels are our immediate highlights, and yes, in that order. Oktoberfest has taken every party or festival we’ve ever attended, and made it look like a small house gig. The sheer volume of people was a shock to the system (roughly 6 million attend each year), which made us wonder...

We FINALLY made it to Mexico! And what a meet-and-greet it’s been – over a week exploring the gorgeous Mexican Caribbean with the Expedia team. Sitting on Mexico’s east coast, it’s home to the city of Cancún, town of Playa Del Carmen, and the widely different islands of Isla Mujeres and Cozumel (along with many other cute and charming towns, of course). There’s activities for all kinds of travellers, and since some of the most important Mayan ruins are dotted all over the region, it’s a very important historical location too, offering you a glimpse into the incredible Mayan culture. But with so much to see, eat, and do, it can be overwhelming, so we’ve broken down the 10 best...

If you read our last post on Ethiopia, you might already be planning your adventure there (and if that is indeed the case, then that is bloody marvellous – pop us a mail if you have any questions ahead of your trip, and don’t forget to check out the Sheraton Addis if you’re looking for the ultimate Ethiopian base to travel from.) If, however, you’re more of a Travel For Experiences type, and it’s less about the full itinerary to try and see as much as possible in the least amount of time, then let us share with you seven bucket-list-worthy experiences you should definitely travel to Ethiopia for. Disclaimer: we’ve only done four of the seven, but hey, like...

Inspired by our recent experiences of attending a Greek cooking class on the island of Poros and touring Florence in a vintage Fiat 500, our quest to inspire people to #LiveWithLess has evolved to a little more than us simply telling everyone we meet to read James Wallman’s Stuffocation (which you really, really should). Before departing on our journey, we created our Wanderlist (our version of a travel bucket list) and recently looked at it and noticed how many worthy-of-their-own-limelight experiences were on it; featuring both experiences we’ve been dying to do for years, and amazing recommendations from our community, that we hadn’t even thought of. As a result, we have created a series of graphics that illustrate what you...

This week’s post’s goal is to inspire a little minimalism. Although we don’t shout it from the rooftops, we are huge advocates for living a simple, yet meaningful life. Since having our epiphany and giving up our work-hard-to-buy-stuff-and-then-buy-more-stuff life back in Johannesburg, to live a save-save-save-then-spend-on-experiences kind of life, we’ve had to adjust, and I mean really adjust. Besides the obvious things like furniture and house cleaning goods (because, well, we simply have no house for them), there are a few things we have actively and voluntarily removed from our lives, simply because we find no use for them anymore. So whether you’re living a 9-to-5 life like we used to, or you yourself are a full time traveller, we...

This is probably version 12 of this blog post (or 20…I lost count), because we’ve gone back and forth about what to say, how to say it, if we should say anything, and most importantly, what we should actually do this year. Well, after much debate, much confusion and probably a little too much wine this festive season #WhenOnHoliday, we are eager to announce that our goal this year is to travel less and work more. Yes, you read right, and yes, we are very serious…well, as serious as one can be during this jolly season (let the festivities live on, I say!). No, this probably should not apply to everyone (YOU, for example, should be aiming to travel more,...
