The Top Weekend Getaways For Adventurous Couples In U.S.A.

While some couples enjoy a quiet dinner and a movie, others prefer exploring outdoors (like Chanel and Stevo, obviously). Hiking, swimming and sunbathing will get your hearts pumping and create lasting bonds. Where can you find the most fun during a weekend getaway in the United States? Here are the five best destinations.

Lake Placid, New York

Lake Placid may be best known for the Winter Olympics, which it has hosted twice. If you and your partner like skiing and snowboarding, it’s the place for you. Head to Whiteface Mountain in the winter for world-class skiing and unforgettable experiences. Mirror Lake is another excellent winter getaway featuring dog sled rides and cross-country skiing.

While Lake Placid is famous for winter sports, this New York destination is just as fun in the summer. When the weather warms, return to this haven for hiking, mountain biking and canoeing. Adventurous couples can ride glider planes and soak in the lush greenery.

Capitol Reef National Park, Utah

Utah has no shortage of national parks, making the Beehive State full of unforgettable adventures. Capitol Reef National Park doesn’t get as much attention as Arches or Zion, but its activities are equally exhilarating. For example, rock climbing has become more popular because of the cracked cliff walls.

Another exhilarating sport in Capitol Reef is canyoneering, where you swim and rappel on the Colorado Plateau. When you need a break, visit the 2,000 fruit trees around the national park. These orchards contain apples, pears, peaches and other delicious ripe snacks. If you can’t get enough, stay the night at the developed and primitive campgrounds.

Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, Georgia

Atlanta is a bustling metropolitan city with ample recreational opportunities. The ATL has recently prioritized expanding outdoor fun, encouraging its residents to get outside and enjoy Stone Mountain, Piedmont Park and the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. Strolling the Atlanta Beltline, you’ll find plenty of opportunities for adventure.

The Chattahoochee River starts at the Florida border and is part of the National Water Trail. Its water is terrific for kayaking, covering 48 exciting miles in the Atlanta metro area. From Buford Dam to south Atlanta, the river invites kayakers, anglers and all outdoor enthusiasts. The city also satisfies thrill seekers with escape rooms, skate parks and hot air balloons.

Cumberland Gap

The Appalachian Mountains are chock-full of fun from Alabama to Maine. Where should you and your partner go for adventures in high elevation? The Cumberland Gap should be a priority for year-round recreation. It sits on the border where Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky meet, letting you explore the best of three states.

When visiting the Cumberland Gap, spend time on the Tri-State Peak Trail. This challenging path is about 2.4 miles and features elevation changes as you go over the gap. While in Cumberland Gap, make time to view the rock formations, waterfalls and incredible mountain views. If you want a thrill, take a zipline tour of this picturesque region.

Big Sur, California

Sometimes, people forget about the beauty of central California. When you visit locations like Big Sur, you won’t soon forget how stunning and full of adventure it is. Big Sur stands out because most of its coastline remains undeveloped. The lack of human interference lets you and your partner see nature in its purest form, just like Chanel and Stevo did back in 2016

Big Sur has exciting activities on land and in the water, so there’s something for everybody. You can surf, dive, sail, and command a kayak in the calm Pacific Ocean, Big Sur River and the creeks. For new adventures, try windsurfing and kiteboarding on the San Simeon Coast. On land, Big Sur offers terrific cycling, hiking and wildlife-watching opportunities.

Fun Adventures With Your Romantic Partner

The world is your oyster, so get outside and enjoy Mother Nature at its finest. America has coast-to-coast recreational opportunities waiting to welcome you and your partner. From major cities to tiny off-grid campsites, you can find adventures on land or in the water. Use your next weekend getaway to have fun and strengthen bonds with your significant other.
