07 Nov San Francisco, California: A Dream Trip
This could be the longest blog post I ever write, or the shortest, as I could tell you why you should visit San Francisco, or why you shouldn’t. Ever since I was a little toothless jelly bean watching Full House re-runs on my VCR back in the early 90s, I’ve dreamed of visiting the Painted Ladies, Golden Gate Bridge and the beaches that surround the city of San Fran. I must admit, when we were planning our USA trip, San Fran was probably the first thing I wrote down on the itinerary.
So as part of our West Coast road trip – the 3-week excursion we enjoyed in September – we made our last stop the beautiful San Francisco. And beautiful she is! Everything from the hilly suburban roads, to the wide beaches overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge, and the parks and piers and cable cars and trams. Strangely, I felt like I was walking through a city that had us in mind – it had views, and markets and places to walk the dogs and a beach with a gorgeous iconic beacon that stood proud. What more could we ask for?!
Besides watching the sunset light up around the GG Bridge on Marshall beach, highlights must include getting my photo taken in front of the Painted Ladies (glad we could tick that off #TheGlobalWanderlist), cycling across GG bridge on what felt like the windiest day of the year, visiting the crooked street, strolling through the ferry building market, popping past Pier 39 for the sea lions, and making a new friend (who was kind enough to let us spend a night at his perfectly-placed home).
San Fran – you’re one of the most rousing, unforgettable, and picturesque places we’ve ever experienced and we will no doubt be back for more of that addictive energy.
