24 Aug Friends Of #HFFH: Live-Bio
We’re so lucky to be meeting some amazing people on our journey. When we first planned our trip, it was all about the places and experiences. We’re quickly realizing that it’s the people that make the places more memorable, and really make the experiences.
Our second featured friend(s) are Magdalena and Periklis of Live-Bio.
Have you ever met a person (or people) who somehow stumbled into your life by chance, but you are really, REALLY glad they did? Enter Mags and Periklis, the founders of Live-Bio, our hosts in Greece, and our friends who we met serendipitously at the end of last year.
Having only had two (delicious and home-made) dinners in Johannesburg together, but very similar ideologies about how our limited time on Earth should be spent, we became friends with Mags and Periklis almost instantly, just around the time we were planning the final details of our journey. Similarly, around that time, they had just decided to cash-in their 9-to-5 office jobs in Johannesburg to take on a whole new set of challenges, starting a lifestyle concept called ‘Live-Bio’ on the beautiful island of Poros, Greece. As sailing the Greek Isles was on our Wanderlist, and two dinners was not enough time for us to get to know our new friends better, a trip to visit them had to be done.
The Live-Bio concept is one of very similar ideals and philosophies to that of How Far From Home. It focuses on getting in touch with nature whilst exploring the outdoors; cultural submersion with locals at local events; getting back to basics by living with less and eating only locally-sourced fresh produce; and using exercises such as yoga and meditation to rejuvenate the body and mind. We attempted to capture the essence of the Live-Bio experience in the below series of snaps (if you’re dying to book a trip, have a look at their site and Instagram feed for more info).
Thank you Mags & Periklis for sharing your new adventure with us, and giving us the perfect Greek experience. We will certainly be back to do it all again!
