6 Family-Friendly Things To Do In London

Family time is something we are all craving now. After all the restrictions and limited time spent with loved ones, we could all use some more QT with family. Family time can be a source of sharing, learning and fun, and family activities provide a platform on which a healthy, happy family thrives. They do not have to be complicated or expensive either. Many activities provide family members of all ages with increased health and wellness, and with enough practice and trial and error, you may even find ways to spend more time together. Especially when you’re living in a city like London, where there are so many cool things to do with your family (shoutout to our London readers today!)

Everyone loves to explore, and family outings provide an opportunity to discover the world around us. Of course, you will want to consider the interests of your family members, as well as the ages of your children and their levels of attention and activity levels when choosing what to do, but have a read and see if any ideas spark. A long hike in a London park, for example, can be enjoyable for fit adults, but may be seen as tedious and even boring for very young children or teens, so you’ll need to appropriate where necessary.

Let’s highlight some top family-friendly activities that can raise the mood of your family to the maximum, and see if any speak to you and your bunch:

Take A Long Walk In London

Whether you’ve lived in London your whole life, moved there recently, or are planning to spend a long holiday in London, family hiking can offer hours of relaxation. You can refer online for local trails and see which ones tickle your family’s fancy. Some of the most popular routes in London are the Parkland Walk, the Thames Path, and the Hampstead Circular Walk, among others. Most have child-friendly hiking options if you have very young children. As with any hike, make sure you bring bottles of water (reusable of course), and some healthy snacks. Look for animals and birds, locate plants, and take the time to play on any feature of the water. Nature time with family is always a good idea.

Visit A Local Library

This will be great for bookworms, but maybe even for those who don’t necessarily spend that much time reading. If you’ve been looking for a way to get your kids off their screens, or your kids are interested in finding a new hobby, a trip to a local library might just be exactly what your family needs. With so many beautiful libraries in London, you will also have plenty to discover. A weekly family visit can even become a routine that all your family members will enjoy. In this way, not only will you bring your children closer to reading and appreciating the classics, but you might even rediscover the magic of books again (Chanel and Stevo certainly have).

Enjoy A Kid-Friendly Afternoon Tea

It would be a shame not to enjoy one of the most traditional and celebrated activities for Londoners, so add Afternoon Tea to your list of family experiences. The family from Full Suitcase had a great time at the St. Ermin’s Hotel since it offered all the delectable treats for adults, and a special menu for the kids (partnered with a visit to see the hotel’s bees). If your kids are older, you might want to treat yourselves to the afternoon tea at Sketch – one of Chanel and Stevo’s favourite London memories.

Visit A Crazy Golf Course

Crazy Golf is an activity that is definitely created with the whole family in mind. It’s not as demanding as regular golf, and definitely more fun. There are dozens of options for you and your family to play Crazy Golf in London, but the ideal choice is Plonk Crazy Golf venue, which offers not only imaginative training grounds, and excellent modern facilities, but also entertainment venues. People of all ages will love their time at this particular venue, so check it out if your family is looking for a modern yet fun new pastime.

Treat Yourselves To A Family-Friendly Musical

Going to see a musical in London should be on everyone’s bucket list, and with so many amazing family-friendly shows on offer, this can easily be one of the best family-friendly activities for you and your family. Choose between The Lion King, Aladdin, Matilda, or any other show available, just make sure to book your tickets in advance to avoid the queue and choose a show time that suits your family’s schedule.

Go On The London Eye

Sure, it’s probably the most touristy thing you can do in London, but it’s also one of the most family-friendly activities, that will allow your whole family to see London from a new perspective. Whether you’ve done it already and you want to let your kids experience it, or you’ve only seen London Eye from the ground, this might be the best time to go up and enjoy this marvellous spectacle, because no matter your age, you’re sure to enjoy it.

Cool article! – As a Londoner, I think you’ve covered this really well! – Struggling with things to add here, aside from visiting London Zoo (which is super cool) and also seeing the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace is quite an experience. Glad you guys experience having high tea! Lol – Do you think you guys will ever return to London?
