15 Sep Our Time In Athens, Greece
Our belief to say “yes” to everything was once again put to the test when we arrived in Athens. We, by chance, bumped into our friends Bernie & Anthi aka Mr & Mrs Smit, who were staying a mere 1.8km away from us (still can’t believe our luck) and before we knew it, we were agreeing to a Greek wedding invitation. Crazy!
Fireworks, beautiful bride and groom arriving on a boat (we even got the bride to hold our board), and partying ’til sunrise on the beach was exactly what our big, fat Greek wedding experience gave us. We learned to dance the Kalamatiano, and snacked on loukoumades (the sweetest little Greek doughnuts; I believe the recipe will be on the Mr & Mrs Smit blog soooon) until the sun came up and it was time to go back to our temporary home in Poros. Note: no matter what anyone tells you, sleeping on a ferry can be extremely comfortable!
But Athens sucked us in with her friendly beauty, and we ended up going back for some city explorations. As mentioned on Instagram, strolling through Athens is like having an all-access pass to the biggest museum. Everywhere you look, ancient artifacts and important archaeological ruins grace the city’s skyline and skinny pathways. From the monumental Acropolis, to the tiniest of jewels displayed in the train stations, visiting Athens really was a blessing. Have a look at our exploration in pictures below…or check out #HFFH_travels on Instagram, Pinterest or Twitter and let us know what you think.
