    New York / 17.11.2019

New York is (as POTUS puts it) “HUUUUGE” and there is no shortage of things to do. If you love food, New York can offer you any kind of cuisine your taste buds desire; if you love night life, there are shiny bars and clubs around every corner; if you love the performing arts, well, the city currently has forty-one Broadway theatres, so take your pick; and if you love sightseeing, there is certainly no shortage of things to see and explore. But with so much to see and do, NYC can be daunting as a first- or even second-time visitor, which is why we’re here to help you create the ultimate New York itinerary. We’ve been fortunate enough to visit...

    BE INSPIRED, Entrepreneurship / 21.04.2018

You have heard us preach about our “quit it all and sell everything” methodology to get you to travel around the world. I guess you don’t blame us – it is exactly what we did in order to get on the road and travel full time (like we have been doing since March 2015). But what if you’re not ready (or worse, able) to just pack up and go because you’re a homeowner? What if it’s not as easy as just selling the furniture, and packing a bag?   [caption id="attachment_18785" align="aligncenter" width="1397"] The famous Painted Ladies in San Francisco[/caption]   Before leaving, we were renting an apartment in Johannesburg, a mere 5 minute drive away from our offices, and as much as it...

    Czechia / 14.12.2017

Chances are you’re looking for your next big European adventure. Maybe you’re interested in some cultural excursions through the ages. Or you’re super keen on trying some traditional cuisine (and well-crafted beer). Maybe you want to go somewhere beautiful, no matter what time of year it is. If any of those scenarios apply to you, we can assure you Prague will completely overwhelm you (in the best way possible). There is so much to do and see in this fine city, and even staying for a few nights is enough to make you fall in love and plan your next trip (#truestory – we’re already planning our return in 2018).       But we don’t feel like we need to convince you to...

    Croatia / 23.10.2017

We are three weeks into our month-long sugarmoon (you know, that special time after you get engaged?), staying on the island of Solta in Croatia, and in a very strange way, it's starting to feel a lot like home. Not home as in South Africa. Home in the ‘comfortable’ sense. Staying still for an entire month has created some stability for us, it seems. We can explore better (not rush through ticking off only a few sites), and we can act like locals – really learning about where to go for the best beer, what time you can get the best lighting for a photograph, and where the secret (or difficult-to-get-to) locations are, because, well, we have the time. Staying put also...

    Iceland / 10.08.2016

Our motto and motivation is to “collect experiences, not things”. Whilst on our journey, we’re aiming to spend our time and money on spectacular experiences, to be left with incredible learnings and memories, not tangible objects. This way, we’re sure to keep our lives light without additional luggage, but also be the change we want to see in the world. Our next featured experience is a week spent living on a remote island in Iceland, Traustholtshólmi. It's not often we get to experience world firsts, and, well, we got to live on a private island with Hákon – the world's only man living alone on an island surrounded by a glacial river (I guess he technically isn't alone, as he has his...

    Austria / 27.03.2015

As we traveled through the Austrian countryside on our Westbahn train, we had no idea what to expect from Linz. Would it look like Salzburg (the only reference of an Austrian city we had)? Would it be almost as chaotic as Amsterdam on New Year's Eve? Don't ever go to Amsterdam on New Year's Eve. Would it have a traditional feel like Munich, with a "who wore their Lederhosen best"? Well, it only took an hour and a bit to get to Linz, so we would shortly find out. We then heard the familiar sound of an Austrian woman shouting at us over the intercom: "Nächster Halt...
