    Turkey / 17.06.2018

If we had to sum up our first impression of Bodrum (the elegant seaside getaway in south-west Turkey) we would have to say: it’s been a really, really, really, really, REALLY pleasant surprise. Our knowledge of Turkey is fairly limited – we visited back in 2015 with some friends, but stuck to the bars and mosques of Istanbul, and only stayed for 4 days. This time, we headed south, to where the Aegean and Mediterranean seas meet, to one of the most picturesque towns we’ve had the pleasure of experiencing.     The first thing you notice, is the vast number of luxury resorts positioned along the cliffs and hills. If you’re like us, you will check in to the European resort that...

    Malta / 26.05.2018

When we landed in our 49th country, we weren’t entirely sure what to expect. Malta, the unassuming archipelago, is perfectly situated in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, just 130km (80 miles) south of Italy’s largest island, Sicily, and 450km (300 miles) off the coast of Tunisia in Northern Africa. A little research was done ahead of our trip (naturally), so we knew that English was widely spoken (bonus), and folks drive on the left hand side – great similarities to our own home country, fellow member of the British Commonwealth, South Africa. We also heard about the amazing food – being so close to Italy, it was really no surprise. But no matter how much research you do on Pinterest...

    Croatia / 23.10.2017

We are three weeks into our month-long sugarmoon (you know, that special time after you get engaged?), staying on the island of Solta in Croatia, and in a very strange way, it's starting to feel a lot like home. Not home as in South Africa. Home in the ‘comfortable’ sense. Staying still for an entire month has created some stability for us, it seems. We can explore better (not rush through ticking off only a few sites), and we can act like locals – really learning about where to go for the best beer, what time you can get the best lighting for a photograph, and where the secret (or difficult-to-get-to) locations are, because, well, we have the time. Staying put also...

Our motto and motivation is to “collect experiences, not things”. Whilst on our journey, we’re aiming to spend our time and money on spectacular experiences, to be left with incredible learnings and memories, not tangible objects. This way, we’re sure to keep our lives light without additional luggage, but also be the change we want to see in the world. Our next featured experience is the Topdeck Travel tour, Ibiza Sailing. Sailing is not entirely new to us. We enjoyed some land-less living on the beautiful waters of the Aegean Sea, this time last year, when we visited our amazing friends from Live-Bio. We lived in close proximity, as we sailed through Greek islands, learning how one hand always belongs to the boat, and how...

    Greece / 26.08.2015

I recall waking up at 6am to the sound of cicadas on a nearby island. Opening my eyes, I saw perfectly blue skies, and felt morning dew on my feet. I looked over at Stevo lying next to me, and realized that we had just spent our first night on a sailing boat, drifting gently to the wake of the Aegean Sea. This was the first of four nights we would spend on Naziara, the floating vessel we would temporarily call home. In an attempt to tick off number 7 from our Wanderlist, (sail through the Greek isles), we visited our friends from Live-Bio to enjoy three beautiful weeks exploring the Peloponnese. From 40 degree walks through olive groves, and sunset yoga classes on the...
